Chicago BlackhawksIt's hard to believe that this show (if you can call it that) has been on the air for a year now.  Do we celebrate? Nope, we just give you the lastest sports discussion.  Three of the four Chicago sports teams, plus the Brewers all lost on Friday.  Will the Bulls make the playoffs?  Who will the Hawks face in the post season?  How bad are the Cubs?  Why have the Sox and Brewers stumbled out of the gate?  All this plus WNBA and Masters talk.  Enjoy

Sox Shut Out Tribe for Opening Day Win PDF Print E-mail

(CHICAGO, IL) Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox made his eighth Opening Day start a most memorable one with the defensive play of the year in the fifth inning on a ball that Louis Marson richoced off of the pitcher's ankle.  Buehrle ran the ball down in foul territory, and without thinking, tossed it with his glove between his legs to Paul Konerko who barehanded it for the putout.  It may have been 1-3 in the scorebook, but for the sellout crowd of 38, 935 it was a play for the ages.

Chicago went on to win 6-0 over Cleveland on Home Runs by Alex Rios, Konerko, and couple of fielder's choices.  Buehrle went seven innings, giving only up only three hits and retiring the last ten batters he faced.

Hear our postgame audio with comments from Ozzie Guillen, Mark Buehrle, A.J. Pierzynski, Alex RIos, Paul Konerko, and Gordon Beckham.

UConn basketballIt truly is March Madness as all hell breaks loose in the first part of the show.  You'll have to hear it for yourself.  Fortunately the gang recovers from the early trainwreck to have a some good discussons about the Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Packers (well actually Lambeau Field) and the Cubs.  They even get some discussion in about the Women's NCAA tourney (along with the menof course.) Just you usual Saturday early morning mayhem.  Enjoy.

BLACKHAWKS CLINCH FIRST DIVISION TITLE IN 17 YEARS

The Chicago Blackhawks have clinched the National Hockey League's Central Division title, the team's first since the 1992-93 season, as a result of the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers this afternoon.

Entering Sunday's meeting with the Calgary Flames at the United Center, the Blackhawks (48-22-7) share the Western Conference lead with 48 wins and rank second overall with 103 points. Chicago last captured its division when it earned the Norris Division crown during the 1992-93 season, finishing with a 47-25-12 (106 points) record.

The 2009-10 season marks the first time in 38 years the Blackhawks have registered consecutive 100-point seasons, while the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs will mark the first time in 13 years Chicago will make consecutive postseason appearances.

The Blackhawks are currently one victory away from matching the franchise record set in both 1970-71 and 1990-91 and four points away from tying the club record set in both 1970-71 and 1971-72. Chicago is also two points away from increasing its regular-season point total for the sixth consecutive season.
