EASY choice for Hero of the Week.   The New York Yankees, whether you love them or you hate them, (and I've done some of both!) are probably the most storied and successful franchise in sports history.    And their most recent owner, George Steinbrenner, (who as everyone knows passed away a few days ago), was one of the most powerful and winning owners anywhere.   Like the Yankees, he had a lot of good AND bad things about him, but one thing was always constant, he wanted to WIN, and expected nothing less.   Many owners in sports today could take a lesson from that.    Yes, he was difficult to work for, and had his moments, but he also did very good things, which at times were not talked about as much.    Upon seeing a story about a Policeman or Fireman being killed in the line of duty, he would immediately send the widow a check, for their kids' college education.   He did things like this frequently.     Again, like him or hate him, he is the HERO of the Week.

For the ZERO, let's stay with baseball and choose the All Star Game, which has become just a glorified exhibition game, but for some unknown reason, determines which league has Home Field advantage in the World Series.     Seems a strange way to do it, as opposed to which team has the best record, but they're trying to draw interest in it.   I don't think it's working, this past week's All Star game had the lowest ratings in history.
